Rooty Hill station, West HQ and the 728
The clinic is about 9 km by road from the middle of Rooty Hill. One direct route follows Eastern Road and then Doonside Road, and parking is available. Rooty Hill railway station is on the T1 Western Line, the same line that serves Blacktown station. Bus route 728, Mount Druitt to Blacktown, stops at West HQ on Sherbrooke Street in Rooty Hill and runs to Blacktown Station, which leaves about a kilometre to walk to 118 Bungarribee Rd.
Rooty Hill’s census picture and parking
Rooty Hill had 16,176 residents at the 2021 Census. Couple families with children made up 56.5% of families, and 16.2% of residents were aged 65 or over. At that Census, 46.5% of employed residents drove a car to work, although it was held while NSW was under COVID-19 stay-at-home restrictions. If you plan to drive the 9 km, parking is available and the clinic has disabled ramp access. Weekday sessions run from 8am to 12pm and 3pm to 7pm, with Saturday from 8am to 12pm.
Norfolk Island name, 1890 hotel
Governor Philip Gidley King named the area after a hill on Norfolk Island, and the name Rooty Hill first appears on a map from 1803. The Imperial Hotel on Rooty Hill Road North, built in 1890, is state heritage-listed. West HQ was built in 1964 as the Rooty Hill RSL and now houses the Sydney Coliseum Theatre and Zone Bowling. Blacktown International Sportspark is the home ground of the Sydney Blue Sox. West HQ is also where route 728 picks up on Sherbrooke Street for Blacktown Station.
