Glendenning households and Saturday mornings
Glendenning had 5,196 residents at the 2021 Census, and 24.4% of them were aged 0 to 14. Couple families with children made up 61.6% of families. Weekday hours are split into two sessions, 8am to 12pm and 3pm to 7pm, and the clinic also opens on Saturday from 8am to 12pm. There are no Sunday sessions. A first visit takes about an hour, so an 8am Saturday start leaves the rest of the morning for family plans. Later visits are shorter, at about 15 minutes each.
A Plumpton butcher and a 1987 suburb
Glendenning was officially declared a suburb in 1987. Its name comes from William Glendenning, a Plumpton butcher who had a slaughteryard in Lamb Street in the early 1900s. The Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga, on the corner of Glendenning Road and Lamb Street, was opened in October 2008 by the King of Tonga, George Tupou V. Bus operator Busways has a depot at 150 Glendenning Road. If you catch the 756 from Glendenning Road, it takes you to Blacktown Station, about a kilometre on foot from the clinic.
