Girraween Road, Pendle Hill and the 705
The clinic is about 6 km by road from the middle of Girraween. One direct route follows Toongabbie Road and then Cornelia Road. Girraween has no railway station of its own. Pendle Hill Station is a short walk through Civic Park and is served by T1 Western Line and T5 Cumberland Line services, which both stop at Blacktown. Toongabbie Station is also close by. Bus route 705 (Blacktown to Parramatta via Pendle Hill) stops along Girraween Road, Oramzi Road and Gilba Road near Girraween High School, and runs to Blacktown Station. From Blacktown Station it is a walk of about a kilometre to Bungarribee Road.
Girraween’s young families and weekend options
At the 2021 Census, couple families with children made up 70.1% of families in Girraween. Children aged 0 to 14 made up 26.5% of the population at the 2021 Census, out of 6,256 residents. With school taking up weekday mornings, the 3pm to 7pm weekday session or Saturday from 8am to 12pm may be easier to plan around. There is no Sunday session. No GP referral is needed, and online booking is open at any hour. Families arriving by car will find parking available, and there is disabled ramp access at the entrance.
Place of flowers and Wentworth land
Girraween is an Aboriginal word meaning place of flowers. The land was once part of the estate of D’Arcy Wentworth, the man Wentworthville is named after. Girraween High School, a selective high school, is in the suburb, and the 705 bus stops near it on Gilba Road. Civic Park is the walking link to Pendle Hill Station. The suburb sits within Cumberland Council. If you already know the 705 from the high school stops, the same route continues to Blacktown Station, a walk of about a kilometre from the clinic.
